I think Antomy needs to be adjusted. As it is a player has to tran antomy before they can fight anything.

i think you should be able to fight lower lever beasties with little or no anotomy. Anyway that how i trained anotomy useing the beast i was fighting.

I know we talked about this the other day but thanks for posting it too. It will help me remember to check into it.

Another oldie.

I'm looking into this so can someone test it to see if it still exists as a problem before I start on my road to insanity digging through the hitscripts?

There's a lot of stuff I want to do in those scripts to unify things a bit so I don't want to go chasing down a bug that I might have fixed and forgot to document.

Well I'm at 95 anatomy or so currently.

First, I'm not entirely sure exactly what this bug/problem is so I'm going to be a bit careful on this one. I have 95 anatomy now, it didnt seem to affect anything other than the usual criticals and rate of healing. Seemed normal to me.
Second, anatomy is rediiiculously helpful on many occasions, it's good to train it up regardless. It kind of makes sense too, to be a good fighter one must know thine opponent.

OK so I gather from what you said that, to you, anatomy seems to be working alright on Hope as compared to other shards. Is that correct?
I always thought anatomy should give the fighter a better chance for critical hits and should aid in healing. Beyond those two things is there any other area where anatomy should come into play? I can't think of any ATM.

I think the original complaint was that it takes forever to kill lower level creatures with little or no anatomy skill. My first experience playing UO was on a shard called Journey's End and I remember being able to kill lower beasties with almost no anatomy. Whether that was the way it was supposed to be or not I don't know. I want Hope to be fun for new players as well as challenging for more experienced people.

I have a character that has 13 macefighting and 19 anatomy. It took him a long time to kill a ghost what with having to run off and heal many many times. He was using a two handed, double-bladed axe. Remember axes on Hope use the macing combat skill. So I'm not sure if the ghost has too much health (100) or what but it did seem to me that it took way longer than it should have to kill him. Now that I think about it I wonder if ghosts are resistant to normal weapons. It would make sense that you can't beat up a ghost since it is basically ethereal in nature. It's been so long since I looked at the NPCs that I can't remember.

I'll have to test against some other beast before I worry too much I guess.

Well I've found that anatomy works allright but things are really hard to kill at a low level. Idont htink this is the problem with anatomy though. I couldnt do much if any damage until about 30 (fencing in my case) and tactics. I'm not sure the difficulty with low levels and monsters is from anatomy though. I don't think I can do much else in testing this out though.

How would you say the low level creatures difficulty compares on Hope to other shards?

I don't want it to be too easy and yet not too hard either.

The low level creatures are pretty hard compared to other shards. But mongbats and headless ones are manageable. Anything that casts will destroy though. Off topic but for some reason as soon as they start a spell you can be 3 screens away and it will hit you. Seems they target before they cast.

OK. I'd call that a bug. The fact that they can hit you so far away. By the very nature of the AI creatures do lock on to you prior to attacking but you are supposed to be within visible range and there should be some delay when they start chanting 'Corp Por' or whatever.
